This truly unique multi-level home is a mid-century modern desert paradise, including three master suites, a private spa in the downstairs patio, and a luxurious sundeck off of the living room and upstairs bedroom. The crystal blue swimming pool on the lower level comes with its own cabana and diving board.
Recently renovated, the house still faithfully echoes its vintage mid-century roots with original and delicately replicated tiles and fixtures in the bathrooms, a parade of floor-mounted lights guiding you toward the home, as well as a kitchen with its original appliances.
Perfectly designed to accommodate three couples, every bedroom has its own HDTV with satellite television and premium movie channels, an en-suite bathroom, and a king size platform bed. Out in the living room you’ll have the full theater experience thanks to a 50 inch HDTV with DVR and surround sound.
Sitting just under Bob Hope’s majestic mountaintop manor, you’ll be treated to an unobstructed 220 degree view overlooking the entirety of Palm Springs. The lovely combination of a desert breeze, undulating palms, and an expanse of stars and city lights will keep you coming back to this upscale escape.
Howard Hughes used to own this very property as his Palm Springs getaway, as well as Eva Gabor who you may remember from Green Acres, and Hollywood producer Paul Keyes. Robert Evans from the Godfather chose this as his honeymoon estate, and Smokey Robinson was known to vacation here often. No cats are allowed.

Great old Hollywood charm abounds in this home. The pool area is beautiful. Views upon views - palm trees, mountains, flowers, hummingbirds. Very relaxing yet close to shops and restaurants if you want to get away.

What a great entertaining pool home. The balconies overlook the gorgeous yard and pool. It felt like we were back in time in the grand old days of Hollywood. My family of 5 adults enjoyed this home with our 2 dogs and were not worried about them getting out of the property. It is very private with beautiful views.

This house was gorgeous with a lot of history. The views are gorgeous and the pool is perfect with lots of trees around. I love how the back yard is separated from The house. It feels like a resort. We don't want to leave! It is only a 10-15 min drive to downtown Palm Springs and 20 mins to Agua Caliente Casino. Best vacation ever

What an awesome place! After staying in Palm Springs before in typical neighborhoods, it was great to be out on the hill with a view of Araby Cove. The house was fun and quirky, including the floor light switches! Loved having a private bathroom for each bedroom. Our kids each had their own space which worked out great. Spent early mornings in the pool watching hummingbirds, and back in the pool early evenings watching the bats fly overhead eating bugs! Loved seeing the lights of PS and the windmills in the distance. One morning a coyote was hanging out outside if the kitchen window. The Oranj staff were great, and came out quickly when we had some lights that didn't work and got it fixed ASAP. Overall, an amazing trip and we will definitely return.

We spent 7 weeks in this fabulous house. I absolutely LOVED every precious moment. The house is old and quirky and somethings are original. It was very comfortable and homey. Thank you so very much for sharing it with us. It was a little hard to get to and you might let people know the laundry is in a shed outside but we survived just fine. Charles and Kimberly Lawrence.

The whole Oranj Palm experience is a pleasure... From check in to check out. Very nice and helpful. The house is amazing. We typically sight-see on our vacations, but we spent out first full day enjoying the house with its views, wonderful porch, beautiful pool and hot tub and bbq pit. We ate dinner on the deck and watched the city light up as it got dark. So beautiful and so relaxing and very private is the beat way to describe the Howard Hughes mini estate.

This was a perfect getaway spot in Palm Springs. House is privately situated just high enough off the river wash to have a beautiful view of the palm springs area and valley and mountains. Lots of history in the house which the owners have provided in a nice booklet to read. House has that classic mid century feel and is well maintained. Pictures provided are what you get. Lots of original fixtures from the 50's are very cool and while they dont all work as well as new things today, they add to the authentic feel of the property. Great plasma TV;s , Direct TV , DVD and internet all over the house if you want to go that route. Great pool area, yard and spa updated with colored led light shows. Great patios and seating/relaxing areas. Beds were all new and very comfortable with all the amenities you could want. It seems the AC may not work so well as the rooms had big fans in them to help out but I'm just guessing about that. They did say they put in a second A/C unit so maybe its fine. Probably because back in the day, there was no insulation used in these homes so they dont cool down so well. Not an issue for us as we were there in the winter. Oranj Palm was a smooth and great rental experience and without any problems for check in or check out. We had a light out over a stairway and they sent someone right away to fix it. Couple of things I think the owners should look at doing to make this an even better place to be. Many of the trees and hedges around the property were really overgrown blocking a lot of the view. While they advertise a 260 degree view, that is not what you get because the trees and hedges block it. If they would trim them back, you would still have great privacy and increase the view dramatically. Even from the lower pool area if the hedges were lower you could sit at the pool and look out over the valley still with privacy. Now you look at hedges. Hope they do this. Also as mention some of the old bathroom fixtures while clean and cool looking need new valves as they dont work so well. And the pool and spa need to be refinished or bleached as there is a lot of discoloration on the concrete walls and floors of them which make them look dirty. They are actually clean and the water is clear and nice but they just dont look so good. The photo looks fine but that is not how they look. We still enjoyed them anyways so I am just pointing that out. Again a highly recommended place to stay in the palm springs area, convenient and close to everything and even right next to the famous Araby Hiking trail (which is pretty steep though so you need to be in good shape and not afraid of rocky trails) which you can take up the mountain to walk past Bob Hopes compound which is one of the most stunning architectural homes in the world. We will be back.
