Famed Midcentury architect, Donald Wexler designed this one of a kind home in 1959 for the Mattel Family, paying special tribute to the American toy company’s iconic “Barbie” doll.

Built by Roy Fey in El Rancho Vista Estates, the Barbie House boasted Wexler’s famous "Capri" floorplan with a rare 4th bedroom, and its full exterior was painted a special “Barbie” pink. Today the classic “Barbie” color still accents the home’s signature concrete shadow block walls and interior spaces, and the original floorplan remains intact, just as it was sold in 1959.

Nestled in this idyllic community of Wexler's famous roof-lines, and set against a stunning mountain skyline, Barbie’s dazzling midcentury masterpiece is the quintessential Palm Springs retreat. Indoors, the Home’s playful history is preserved by its colorful and eccentric design; each room coming equipped with all the modern conveniences that make a home just as comfortable as it is fabulous

In the backyard, magnificent alpine views wrap the property and peak high above a crystal blue pool and custom spa, painting the perfect Palm Springs setting to soak up the sun, and more importantly, a few cocktails. In the rare instances where guests are not poolside, they’ll find a fully-stocked kitchen indoors, complete with stainless steel appliances and fine cookware; a wildly glamorous entertainment area with loads of midcentury charm; plush beds and flat screen HDTVs in all 4 bedrooms (1 double, 1 queen, 2 kings).

While staying at The Barbie House you can also enjoy the many board games or vintage television DVD's provided by the owner; there is even a 4 hole putting green in the backyard, just steps away from the pool and spa.

With its retro-whimsical décor and ultra-chic outdoor digs, this home is guaranteed to entertain, enchant and enliven every guest!

This is the second house that we stayed in in this neighborhood and loved both. We especially liked the master bedroom being apart from the other bedrooms, giving lots of privacy. Only one issue, no rail on the steps of the pool which made it almost impossible for my husband to get into the pool. please find us a house with a pool railing! Otherwise all was perfect.

This was one of the best rentals I have ever stayed at. It easily housed seven people. The pool and hot tub were great. We had issues with the kitchen sink and they came and fixed it within hours. Also the house was the cleanest Airbnb we had ever stayed at. Would highly recommend.

Our group stayed here for a long weekend and it was perfect for 8 people. Well laid out and with nice touches to give all guests room and privacy. The location is a bit further from the downtown area than I’m used to, about a 10 minute drive, which still is fairly close. Our only complaint is that the carpets are pretty dirty and stained but everything else was meticulously clean and stylish. It isn’t cared for my a host but rather a vacation rental company and they were very responsive. We would definitely stay here again.
